Between 16 and 18 June 2014, Pôle Pégase Aeronautics and the Space cluster hosted 40 international companies, research institutions and clusters during the 2nd event of the BEAWARE project in Marseille, Provence Alpes Cote d’Azur, France.

The event was kicked off by a workshop. First, the EC Project Officer of BEAWARE introduced the prospects of Aeronautics and Air Transport within Horizon 2020 (H2020). Thereafter, Miriam de Angelis from APRE gave a comprehensive overview about the rules and conditions in the framework of H2020. Thilo Schoenfeld from Aerospace Valley concluded the day with a convincing speech on how the Clean Sky 2 programme could open unprecedented opportunities for SMEs from Eastern Europe.

The second day was fully devoted to company visits: Airbus Helicopter-Daher logistics centre (participants saw a fully automatic warehouse and an Aircraft on Ground Room), VSM – Hoisting Training CentreONERA – French Aerospace Lab, and Inovsys – a collaborative technology platform.

The next day, nearly 100 business-to-business meetings took place at the premises of Arbois Mediterranean Technopole in Aix-en-Provence. The participants had an opportunity to establish contacts with the further perspective of setting up technical collaborations and future R&D projects in the frame of H2020. “It has become very difficult for large groups, such as Airbus, to work with small and medium sized enterprises taking into account the changes in the supplier chain model. One opportunity for us will be to take advantage of Horizon 2020 and the underlying project opportunities. In that regard, meeting the clusters and their member companies today was and is extremely valuable for us,” summarized Richard Foster, Head of R&T programme at Airbus Group, the received B2Match benefits.
France and Poland signing a Letter of Intent
One of the main highlights of the event was the signing of the cooperation framework agreement between Pôle Pégase and the Aviation Valley. “It is served to be the first significant result of our project,” announced proudly Andrzej Rybka, Secretary General of APAI – Association of Polish Aviation Industry.
